ANDONG, Aug. 18 (Korea Bizwire) – According to official data, there are over 240 ‘Jongga’ restaurants that offer traditional Korean meals in North Gyeongsang Province.
The province wants to uncover the centuries-old tradition and culture of traditional cuisine and bring it into the mainstream.
To do so, authorities will select restaurants specializing in unique delicacies and create dietary plans, information describing the food and other tailored marketing approaches.

Provincial officials have already undertaken a number of initiatives, including an agreement with Shilla Hotels to introduce traditional food items to dining menus.
Since 2009, the province has made efforts to present traditional dining culture as fine dining, hosting nine panels devoted to raising awareness of and increasing familiarity with traditional cuisine.
Looking to the future, the provincial government will begin laying a framework for improving access to traditional cuisine for the average diner starting next year.
