SEOUL, Sept. 30 (Korea Bizwire) - The sales of items that help drivers make it through long hours spent in the car during Chuseok holiday traffic jams soared this year.

According to 11st, an online shopping site, sales of car accessories from September 1 to 24 were 37 percent higher than the same period last year.

Officials at 11st explained that fun and special items that could be used while in the car were popular among consumers.

A device that prevents drivers from dozing off showed a 116 percent increase in sales. The product is attached near the steering wheel of the car, sensing the movement of the driver. If the driver closes his/her eyes for a certain period of time, or yawns, an alarm rings.

Furthermore, sales of tire pressure gauges showed a 77 percent increase. Since the Chuseok holiday season also include long hours of driving as well as family gatherings and lots of food, drivers checking their tire pressure before departure might have led to an increase in sales.

In addition, a ‘limousine cushion’ which is placed on top of the entire back seat making it more comfortable showed a 23 percent increase in sales, while the sales of car tables for the back seat increased 66 percent.

More people bought car seats for children, (42 percent increase in sales), and portable toilets for children showed a 55 percent increase in sales.
