Frozen Corn Dog Exports on the Rise

SEOUL, Nov. 21 (Korea Bizwire)Sales of Korean-style corn dog, which already doubled last year, continue to rise, data showed Sunday.

The state-run Korea Agro-Fisheries Trade Corp. reported that exports of frozen food products reached US$45.3 million last year, up 99.5 percent from a year earlier.

Corn dog exports stood at a mere $120,000 in 2018, but began to rise rapidly, reaching $600,000 in 2019, $1.6 million in 2020 and $4.8 million last year.

Corn dogs accounted for no more than 1 percent of all exports as recently as 2017. Now, they have jumped to 10.7 percent.

South Korean food producer Pulmuone Co. exported 10 million frozen corn dogs to the U.S. and Japan last year.

Myungrang Hotdogs, a Korean hot dog franchise, currently operates 33 stores in nine countries including the U.S., Canada, and the Philippines.
