SEOUL, Jul. 11 (Korea Bizwire) – Samsung Electronics introduced its latest lineup of wearable devices on July 10, showcasing a strong focus on healthcare functionality and artificial intelligence integration.

The tech giant unveiled its first smart ring, the Galaxy Ring, alongside new smartwatch models at the “Galaxy Unpacked 2024″ event held in the underground exhibition hall of the Louvre Museum in Paris, France.

The ring's sensors precisely measure sleep quality metrics, including movement during sleep, time to fall asleep, and heart and respiratory rates.

The Galaxy Ring, Samsung’s smallest wearable device to date, is designed for continuous health monitoring. It can be worn comfortably for 24 hours a day, up to a week without charging, tracking sleep patterns, heart rate, and other health indicators.

The ring’s sensors precisely measure sleep quality metrics, including movement during sleep, time to fall asleep, and heart and respiratory rates. Users receive a daily “energy score” upon waking, quantifying their sleep quality from the previous night.

The ring also features automatic exercise detection, alerts for unusually high or low heart rates, and reminders for periods of inactivity. Made with grade 5 titanium for durability and scratch resistance, the Galaxy Ring boasts a 10 ATM water resistance rating, making it suitable for swimming.

Samsung emphasized the ring’s low power consumption, allowing for up to seven days of use without charging. Contrary to speculation, health data from the Galaxy Ring will be accessible through the Samsung Health app without requiring a subscription fee.

The company also introduced the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra. The Watch 7 is the first in the series to feature a 3-nanometer processor, tripling the application processing speed compared to its predecessor.

It includes new health features such as the Advanced Glycation End-products (AGEs) Index, which reflects biological aging processes.

The Watch 7 has received De Novo approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its sleep apnea detection feature and incorporates a dual-frequency GPS system for accurate location tracking in urban environments.

The Watch Ultra, a premium addition to the smartwatch lineup, features a titanium frame for enhanced durability and the same 10 ATM water resistance as the Galaxy Ring. It includes an emergency siren function and is designed to withstand extreme conditions, operating at altitudes from -500m to 9,000m above sea level.

Both the Watch 7 and Watch Ultra run on Wear OS 5, an Android-based smartwatch operating system.

The Galaxy Watch 7 44mm Bluetooth model is priced at 389,000 won, while the 40mm version will retail for 349,000 won. The Galaxy Watch Ultra, available in a single 47mm LTE model, is priced at 899,800 won.

Samsung noted that customers purchasing through Samsung.com will receive a ring sizing kit to ensure the best fit for their Galaxy Ring.
