SEOUL, April 11 (Korea Bizwire) — A growing number of consumers are complaining about voice call dropping or sound quality issues with some of Samsung Electronics Co.’s Galaxy S22 smartphones, as the tech giant recently found itself in hot water over the performance-throttling Game Optimization Service in the latest Galaxy S series.
According to industry sources, a substantial number of the Galaxy S22 users raised complaints about such issues through Samsung Members Community and various online communities.
When trying to make calls, users reported static sounds or in some cases, an inability to hear the person they were talking to well. In addition, for incoming calls, Galaxy S22 smartphones sometimes doesn’t notify the user at all, and instead indicates it as a missed call.
To address such problems, Samsung distributed software updates in mid-March. Nonetheless, consumer complaints about static sounds and difficulty hearing continue.
“After checking in detail, we found that the problems are not product defects but are caused by the blockage of the air channel around the rear camera by accessories or camera protection films,” the tech giant said.
“We recommend that users remove the cover or film around the rear camera.”
However, even after following such instructions, consumer complaints about static sounds continued.
“We carried out software updates to address some consumer complaints about call drops or poor sound quality,” Samsung noted.
