GANGNEUNG, Feb. 7 (Korea Bizwire)According to the city of Gangneung in Gangwon Province on Sunday, the current shelter for abandoned dogs is overcrowded, and plans are in the works to expand the facilities by the end of this year.

The city plans to build a 660-square-meter environmentally-friendly building to protect abandoned dogs and provide training facilities for pet dogs as well.

During the construction of the new building, which is expected to take five months, the city will use tents to protect abandoned dogs.

In Gangneung, abandoned dogs are numerous at the beginning of summer vacation and many are moved to the shelter.

However, the shelter can only accommodate 50 dogs and has already exceeded the limit a long time ago, with the number of abandoned dogs increasing to 160.
