SEOUL, Mar. 4 (Korea Bizwire) — A Hiking Association from the Gangneung Council of Sport For All has developed a 8.8 kilometer coffee-themed hiking course linking Daegwallyeong Rest Stop, Wangsan Mountain and a coffee museum in Wangsang-myeon, said the association on March 2. Hikers can breathe in fresh air with the smell of roasted coffee beans as they arrive at the museum after descending from the top of the mountain.

The association developed the hiking route in order to attract more interest in Gangneung’s current enthusiasm over coffee related businesses and festivals. Gangneung is becoming Korea’s coffee city as it holds annual coffee festivals, and its coffee-themed commercial streets have been acknowledged by the state as a successful case of a local governing business project.

Wangsan Mountain, once neglected by tourists due to its lack of established hiking routes, is now welcoming hikers with convenient and safe roads leading to an eccentric coffee museum. On February 28, about 100 hikers climbed up and down the new trails to promote the new coffee route.
