GANGNEUNG, Mar. 11 (Korea Bizwire)On March 9, the second weekend in March, the east coast of Gangwon Province was crowded with visitors enjoying the smells of spring.

The crowds started to grow in the morning, with tourists and young people who wanted to visit places free of fine dust.

With the crowds, Gangneung’s Central Market and downtown restaurants were bustling with activity once again.

On March 9, the concentration of fine dust in Gangneung was 6 to 11 ㎍/㎥, which is quite clean compared to Seoul and the western part of Gangwon Province.

The reason why Gangwon’s east coast has better air than other parts of the country is due to the Taebaek Mountains forming a natural barrier that blocks the spread of air pollution.

Young people gathered at ski resorts to enjoy some of the last skiing and snowboarding days of the season. Also, people visited Seoraksan National Park to enjoy hiking and snowy landscapes.
