GEOJE, March 7 (Korea Bizwire) — A new cable car stretching over 1.5 kilometers and overlooking Hanryeosudo off the southern coast of Korea and Tsushima Island in Japanese waters will be built on Geoje Island by 2020.
Work on the new cable car project began yesterday with the groundbreaking ceremony in the afternoon.
The project, funded by private capital from Geoje Cable Car Corp. consisting of a group of companies, will see nearly 60 billion won injected to build a cable car connecting Hakdong Gogae and Nojasan Mountain Observatory by March 2020.
When complete, 45 cable cars will be in operation, with each carrying 10 passengers.
From the upper cable station, which will be located on top of Nojasan Mountain at an altitude of 540 meters, passengers will enjoy a spectacular view overlooking the sea off the southern coast and Tongyeong Beach, as well as Tsushima Island on a sunny day, Geoje officials said.
