ILSAN, South Korea, May 4 (Korea Bizwire) An international conference on electric cars and the related technology kicked off on Monday with experts and officials of major carmakers gathering to discuss how the electric car market will be shaping up in the future, organizers said.

The International Electric Vehicle Symposium (EVS), first held in 1969, is a worldwide event for global scholars and industry officials to share the leading trends and technologies regarding sustainable mobility.

This year’s conference will be held at the Korea International Exhibition Center in Ilsan, north of Seoul, until Wednesday under the theme “e-Motional Technology for Humans.”

“As the electric vehicle movement grows, the innovations emerging from our efforts will increasingly take on a greater role in our world,” Sunwoo Myoung-ho, the chairman of the 28th EVS, said in a welcome message for the event.

“It is an exciting moment, not only because EV technologies are accelerating in their development but also because EV usage has taken off and is gaining a foothold in our industry,” he added.

Nine plenary speakers will deliver speeches, with a total of 44 technical sessions along with 161 oral and 167 dialogue presentations planned for the event.

An exhibition will also be held on the sidelines of the EVS, with some 150 companies from both home and abroad to set up more than 400 display booths for visitors, providing a glimpse of the latest technologies related to electric mobility innovations, according to organizers.
