SEOUL, Jan. 1 (Korea Bizwire) —GM Korea, buoyed by the strong performance of the Chevrolet Trax Crossover, posted its highest sales in seven years in 2024, the company announced on Friday.
The automaker sold 499,559 vehicles globally last year, a 6.7% increase from 2023, marking its highest annual sales since 2017.
The growth was largely propelled by exports, which surged 10.6% year-on-year to 474,735 units—the highest since 2014. Key contributors to the export boom were the Chevrolet Trax Crossover, with 295,883 units sold, and the Trailblazer, which recorded 178,852 units.
However, domestic sales declined significantly, with just 24,824 vehicles sold—a drop of 35.9% compared to the previous year.
In December alone, GM Korea recorded 53,325 vehicle sales, a 3.7% increase from December 2023 and the company’s best monthly performance since December 2016.
Gustavo Colosi, Vice President of Sales and Service at GM Korea, highlighted the company’s focus on enhancing customer experiences in 2024. “Last year, GM introduced a range of innovative products and launched the OnStar connectivity service in Korea, along with opening a direct-operated service center in Seoul,” Colosi said. “We aim to carry this positive momentum into 2025.”
GM Korea plans to continue building on its successes as it heads into 2025, striving to sustain its global growth while addressing challenges in the domestic market.
