GM Korea Reports 26% Surge in March Sales Driven by Robust Demand

SEOUL, Apr. 1 (Korea Bizwire) – GM Korea Co., the South Korean unit of General Motors Co., said Monday its vehicle sales rose 26 percent in March from a year earlier thanks to strong demand from both home and abroad.

GM Korea sold 51,388 vehicles last month, compared with 40,781 units from a year ago, on increased domestic sales and overseas shipments of SUVs, the company said in a statement.

Domestic sales jumped 20 percent on-year to 2,038 units last month, while exports also climbed 26.3 percent to 49,350 units.

According to the company, its Trax Crossover compact SUV model in particular was in high demand last month, having sold 27,395 units, more than doubling its sales from a year ago.
