SEOUL, June 22 (Korea Bizwire)The golf industry has enjoyed a major boom during the pandemic era, data showed Tuesday.

Credit card giant BC Card Co., in a study of golf-related sales for the period between June 2019 and May 2022, showed that golf courses and golf practice facilities saw their sales rise by an average of 17.3 percent and 15.9 percent per year.

Indoor golf driving ranges, in particular, saw their sales surge by 32.8 percent.

The rising popularity of golf and the end of social distancing seem to have brought various groups and business outings to screen golf centers, BC Card explained.

People from a wider age range are now joining the ‘golf fever’.

Between June 2019 and May 2020, 75 percent of all golf sales came from consumers in their 50s and 60s. Those in their 20s and 30s only accounted for 5.8 percent.

Between June 2021 and May 2022, those in their 50s and 60s accounted for 67.8 percent or sales, while those in their 20s and 30s now account for close to 10 percent.
