SEOUL, Mar. 22 (Korea Bizwire)South Korean job seekers picked Google Korea as the most sought-after multinational company to work for, followed by Starbucks Coffee Korea Co.

According to Saramin, a South Korean online job search platform, 27 percent of 1,194 job seekers chose Google Korea as their most preferred employer.

Starbucks Coffee Korea ranked second (6 percent), followed by BMW Korea (4.9 percent), Apple Korea Ltd. (4.9 percent), Coca-Cola Beverage Co. (4.3 percent), Netfilx Services Korea Ltd. (3.9 percent), GE Korea (3.2 percent), Microsoft Korea Inc. (2.8 percent), Nike Sports Korea Co. (2.3 percent) and Siemens Ltd. (2.3 percent).

South Korean job seekers preferred foreign companies mostly for ‘high wages’ (17.3 percent), followed by ‘good employee welfare’ (16.1 percent), and ‘company reputation’ (14.6 percent).

Saramin showed that the average annual salary among the 10 most preferred foreign companies was 50 million won (US$44,400).

Microsoft Korea offered the highest average annual salary at 62 million won.

“Unlike South Korean firms, foreign companies set salary based on individual performance, so how much the employees are being paid can change dramatically,” said Saramin.

“The position, responsibilities, and experience should all be taken into consideration.”
