SEOUL, Oct. 10 (Korea Bizwire) – The Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization is operating what is being called a “Souvenir Truck”, visiting Seoul’s most renowned tourist attractions.

The venture took off on September 30 at the east plaza of COEX (Convention and Exhibition Center), to mark the start of the Korea Sale Festa that began on October 1, and the truck offered some 30 souvenir products including the winners of the 2014 and 2015 Seoul Tourism Souvenir Contests – Multi-Purpose Copper Tea Caddy (2014) and Traditional Tea Mats (2015).

The truck then moved to Namsan’s cable car on October 4, before heading on Monday to Dongdaemun Design Plaza, where it will stay until Tuesday.

The truck has been met with large popularity among tourists, with more practical products such as smartphone cases and hand mirrors being particularly popular, according to the ministry.

“The Souvenir Truck was arranged so that we can offer tourists an opportunity to experience and access souvenirs more easily (during their stay in Korea),” said a ministry official. “We’ll be using the knowledge we gain from this endeavor for future souvenir development and distribution.”

Over 13.2 million overseas tourists visited Korea in 2015.
