SEOUL, Nov. 7 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea’s standards agency on Thursday hosted a forum inviting business officials to discuss strategies for taking a lead in setting global technology standards, a move considered crucial to gaining and maintaining a technological gap with others.
The Korean Agency for Technology and Standards hosted the event in Seoul, inviting 80 chief technology officers and other business representatives to share the latest trends in technology standards.
“Amid intensifying global competition to become a rule-setter in future industries such as artificial intelligence and semiconductors, the event served as a venue to discuss ways to address the situation for the growth of South Korean firms,” the agency said in a statement.
During the event, participants reached a consensus on the importance of playing a leading role in setting global technology standards to achieve the so-called super gap with other rivals in emerging industries, the agency added.
