SEOUL, Nov. 22 (Korea Bizwire) — In the future, if one cannot move because of paralysis or during recovery from surgery, one will be able to see a local doctor at home or another location.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service said Thursday that it will recruit medical institutions to participate in the ‘Home Doctors for Primary Medical Care’ project, which will be implemented in the form of pilot projects from December 27 to December 31, 2022.
Under the current health insurance system, even if a doctor visits a patient, he or she can only claim the same medical fees as those at a medical institution, making it difficult for people who cannot move by themselves to use medical services at home.
The government will push for the home doctor pilot project to improve such inconveniences and respond to various medical needs amid the growing aging population.
