SEOUL, June 25 (Korea Bizwire) — The Ministry of Environment and the Korea Environment Corp. announced on Wednesday that they will unveil a “noise map” on the website of the national noise information system (www.noiseinfo.or.kr).
The noise map enables users to have a full glimpse of the information available on the nation’s noise and vibration measurement network which consists of 2,500 monitoring locations nationwide, including 844 managed by the Ministry of Environment and 1,161 by provincial governments.
Among the 844 locations managed by the Ministry of Environment, 152 are areas subject to intensive noise measurement since they are adjacent to airports or highly populated areas.
The ministry has been tracking changes in noise patterns for these locations 24 hours a day by installing high-performance noise measurement equipment.
The national noise and vibration measurement network provides a variety of noise-related data ranging from environmental noise (normal life noise including those generated by automobiles) to railroad noise, airplane noise and road vibration.
Such data has been offered in a document format through the website of the national noise information system. From Thursday, however, it will be available in a map format as a noise map.
