SEOUL, Oct. 8 (Korea Bizwire)A system will be implemented in which the prosecution will provide financial help to families who have difficulty making ends meet due to the arrest of the head of their household.

The Supreme Prosecutors’ Office said Monday it has prepared an emergency welfare support related system and it is currently in place.

The prosecution will confirm whether family members can make a living if the arrested suspect is the main provider for the family or not, and connect the family members with city, county and district offices to receive support.

The emergency welfare support system allows local governments to support living, medical and housing expenses for low-income people who have difficulties maintaining their livelihoods due to the sudden crisis.

In addition, the prosecution will provide support to families of the people sentenced to prison terms or whose probation was canceled after evading the terms of their release.

“There has been a growing need to actively support those who are in blind spots for welfare recently,” said an official at the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office.

“We will do our best not only to be aware of these incidents, but also to protect the human rights of family members,” he said.
