SEOUL, April 2 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea’s drug safety agency has taken the initiative to launch ‘intelligence informatization consulting’ through a combination of artificial intelligence (AI) technology and a management system as part of efforts to strengthen the safety management at food service areas used by children, including those at kindergartens.
To manage the sanitation of small-sized food service areas with a shortage of workers, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety will review the idea of performing automatic checks by installing Internet of Things (IoT) temperature sensors in refrigerators.
It will also review the possibility of providing customized menus using big data on ingredients, cooking methods and nutrition.
The new program is a part of the ‘2021 intelligence informatization consulting support project’ promoted jointly by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency. It will be carried out from June through an outsourcing contract.
Based on the results of the program, the drug safety ministry will establish the ‘Smart Children Food Service Integrated Management System.’
