BUSAN, July 23 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korean car-sharing platform SoCar announced Wednesday that Busan’s Haeundae Beach ranked as the country’s most visited beach last summer, based on vehicle stop data collected during the peak travel months of July and August.
The analysis tracked vehicles that remained parked with engines off for 30 minutes to 5 hours within a 1-kilometer radius of beaches nationwide.
The result placed Haeundae in the top spot, praised for its long white sand beach and abundant leisure and convenience facilities that attract over 10 million visitors annually.
Gwangalli Beach, also in Busan, came in second, with peak visitor hours recorded after 8 p.m., likely due to its popular night views and vibrant beachside atmosphere. Haeundae, in contrast, was busiest between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., when most beachgoers enjoyed midday swimming.
The rest of the top rankings included Sokcho Beach in Gangwon Province at third, followed by Songjeong Beach (Busan), Eulwangni Beach and Songdo Beach (Incheon), Gyeongpo Beach and Eodal Beach on Korea’s east coast.
To mark the summer travel season, SoCar is running a “Summer Beach Destination” promotion through August 14, offering members 60% off car rental fees and 20% off parking charges via its partner app Modoo Parking.
“We’ll continue to analyze user patterns and offer attractive discounts to help travelers plan more affordable and convenient trips,” said Ahn Hong-ki, head of SoCar’s Service Growth Group.
