SEOUL, Feb. 23 (Korea Bizwire) — Hanwha Life Esports on Sunday became the inaugural champions of the 2025 League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) Cup, grabbing a ticket for the upcoming new international tournament, First Stand.
At the final held at the League of Legend (LoL) Park in Seoul, Hanwha Life Esports edged out Gen.G 3-2.
Hanwha took the first set with its aggressive offensive strategy in 31 minutes, but lost the second in 25 minutes, struggling to defend against Gen.G’s counterattacks.
The momentum shifted again in the third set, with top laner Zeus Choi Woo-je leading Hanwha to a 2-1 advantage. Gen.G responded in the fourth set, forcing a decisive fifth game.
The final fifth set remained deadlocked for the first 30 minutes, but Hanwha broke through by shutting down Gen.G’s key players, securing the championship title.
With this victory, Hanwha Life Esports will represent the LCK at First Stand 2025 scheduled for March in Seoul.
First Stand 2025, which was newly introduced last year, is the first of the three major international competitions of the 2025 LoL season, along with the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) and the World Championships.
“We will work hard for the tournament during the remaining time and perform well to satisfy our fans,” coach Choi In-kyu said.
