SEOUL, March 18 (Korea Bizwire)Hanwha Q Cells Co., a South Korean solar cell maker, said Wednesday that it has released two types of new solar modules – a bifacial model that can accept light on both the front and rear surfaces, and a floating model that is optimized for marine environments.

The newly-released bifacial module Q Peak Duo G9 features a maximum output of 460 watt peak (Wp) for the front surface, about 30 Wp higher than that of existing bifacial products.

Unlike basic-type modules that accept light only on front surfaces, the bifacial modules can generate power on both the front and rear surfaces, thereby being able to increase the generation of electricity by up to 20 percent.

In addition, the brand-new bifacial module boasts superior quality thanks to the application of Zero Gap technology that provides higher output, while enhancing physical safety by removing the gaps between cells.

The floating-type Poseidon Module G9 provides long-term reliability by using a polyolefin elastomer (POE) that has a low permeation rate of water vapor. The G9 features a maximum output of 455 Wp, up 35 Wp compared to existing Poseidon models.

The newly-released solar modules acquired the industry’s first advanced quality test certification from TUV Rheinland’s Quality Controlled PV (QCPV) program.
