SEOUL, June 29 (Korea Bizwire) — HD Hyundai Oilbank introduces an innovative venture merging gas stations with camping by launching a new business initiative.
On Thursday, HD Hyundai Oilbank revealed its collaboration with the Korea Tourism Organization through a business agreement aimed at establishing and operating “dump stations” at gas stations. These dump stations will serve as wastewater treatment facilities catering to campers.
As part of the agreement, ten gas stations situated in areas with high recreational vehicle (RV) traffic will have dump stations installed. Additionally, the two companies will jointly implement promotional activities, including gasoline and dump station promotions, to leverage the growing popularity of camping.
To enhance camper convenience and broaden their options, this project expands the distribution of related facilities beyond registered campgrounds. The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, in conjunction with the Corporation, has been actively supporting the installation of dump stations at campgrounds nationwide since last year.
The initiative stems from the recognition that the unauthorized discharge of wastewater from camping vehicles has emerged as an environmental concern, primarily due to inadequate infrastructure and awareness.
Despite the rapid increase in camping vehicle usage since the legalization of converting regular vehicles into campers in 2020, the lack of proper facilities has exacerbated the problem.
