SEOUL, May 1 (Korea Bizwire) — Hollys, the coffee business unit of South Korea’s KG Group, said Wednesday it has opened its first overseas outlet in Japan as it seeks to expand in global markets in the long term.
Hollys has partnered with local bakery brand Gouter d’ Anatole to begin providing coffee and bread Wednesday at its outlet at the Marui Department Store in Namba, Osaka.
The company plans to open more stores in other major Japanese cities and will use experiences and know-how in Japan as a “stepping stone” to enter other countries, the company said in a statement.
Hollys began its operations in Korea in 1998 and currently has 530 outlets across the country.
KG Group’s businesses range from chemicals, steelmaking and car manufacturing to logistics services. It has KG Mobility Corp., formerly SsangYong Motor Co., under its wing.
