Hollywood Turns to K-pop Artists for Movie Soundtracks

SEOUL, June 27 (Korea Bizwire)An increasing number of K-pop artists are being featured on Hollywood movie soundtracks.

“Barbie Dreams,” performed by K-pop rookie sensation Fifty Fifty, can be found on the original soundtrack album for the new fantasy comedy film “Barbie,” scheduled for release on July 19.

Jimin, a member of the K-pop superstar group BTS, contributed to the soundtrack of the Hollywood action film “Fast X,” which was released last month.

The song Jimin was involved in is titled “Angel Pt. 1,” and it is a hip-hop genre main theme song created through collaboration with American rappers Kodak Black and NLE Choppa.

Meanwhile, Danielle from the girl group NewJeans provided the voice for Ariel, the main character of “The Little Mermaid,” in the Korean dubbed version, and also performed “Part of Your World” from the soundtrack.

The increasing collaboration between Hollywood and K-pop artists can be attributed to the massive global fandom, which has the potential to generate significant PR impact.

For example, the music video for “Angel Pt. 1″ has already amassed over 26 million YouTube views, while “Part of Your World” has surpassed 11 million YouTube views.

A recent analysis demonstrated that K-pop artists’ involvement in Hollywood movie soundtracks targeting a global audience can further enhance their image.
