Yecheon, July 13 (Korea Bizwire) – Officials from Yecheon-gun have made it public that they will establish an international union regarding cultural exchanges for archery.

Yecheon-gun is considering the establishment of an archery union with Mongolia, Bhutan and India, which are major archery nations. They have sent officials from the Yecheon International Archery Festival to Mongolia to discuss ways to foster cultural exchanges related to the bow and arrow.

The two countries also discussed strategies to make the study of archery a future-oriented culture. They also discussed the possibilities of a Mongolian group to visit and complete a demonstration of Mongolian archery at the second Yecheon International Archery Festival.

Based on the discussions with Mongolia, Yecheon plans to consult with Bhutan and India on cultural exchanges. If things go well, the county is planning to register the cultural contents of the international archery union with UNESCO.

Governor Lee Hyun-Jun states, “We plan to establish an international archery union so that Yecheon will be the cultural center of archery internationally.”
