Hostel Opens in Abandoned Mining Village

JEONGSEON, May 15 (Korea Bizwire)An abandoned mining village located in Jeongseon County, Gangwon Province has been transformed into a new tourism attraction dedicated to mountain biking.

Jeongseon County held an opening ceremony for a hostel in the Yemi MTB (mountain bike) village on Tuesday.

Yemi MTB Village Hostel is a lodging facility for tourists, including the bike-riding community. The hostel has guest houses, rooms to accompany the disabled, single and family rooms, as well as a bike-only storage and repair room.

The Yemi MTB Village Farming Association Corporation, which consists of residents of Yemi, will be in charge of operating and managing of the hostel.

Yemi MTB Village consists of the hostel, a remodeled Yemi Station, a shelter and a park.

Yemi Station is an intermediate hub station for Jeongseon Arirang Train, and on the side of the nearby Dong River, there is a 21-kilometer bike trail.
