Hyundai Cars Selected as Best Imported Cars by German Magazine

SEOUL, Jan. 31 (Korea Bizwire)Hyundai Motor Group said Monday it had won four titles in the “best imported car” category selected by a German motoring magazine.

The Genesis’ all-electric GV70 SUV (crossover SUV category) and G80 (large-size category), Hyundai Motor Co.’s Bayon subcompact SUV (mini-SUV category), and Kia Corp’s Ceed compact car (midsize category) had been selected by Auto Bild as the best imported car in their respective category.

The magazine described the electric GV70 SUV as a vehicle with “impressive indoor quietness accomplished by active road noise control,” adding that it “not only demonstrates top-notch driving performance using two electric motors, it is capable of reaching 490 horsepower in boost mode.”

The media outlet described the electric G80 as a vehicle that came with the “elegance, quietness, and originality already proven by the combustion-engine model,” emphasizing on the 400V/800V multi-charging system capable of recharging batteries from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 22 minutes.

The Bayon was recognized for its striking design, while the Ceed was selected for its expansive indoor space, intuitive control system, and other convenient features.

Auto Bild said that Hyundai Motor sold 105,074 vehicles in Germany last year, ranking third on the overall sales charts after Volkswagen AG’s SKODA and SEAT. Kia sold 76,139 cars, ranking seventh.
