GOYANG, South Korea, Feb. 27 (Korea Bizwire) – Hyundai Motor Company unveiled its Ioniq plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) Monday, completing its trio of Ioniq vehicles. The Ioniq Hybrid was introduced in January of last year, and the Ioniq Electric followed two months later.

The new PHEV model uses both an internal combustion engine and rechargeable batteries to provide a maximum driving range of over 900 kilometers. It has better fuel mileage than other PHEV competitors in Korea at 20.5 km/l (gasoline) and 5.5km/kWh, according to the carmaker.

Officials added that the new model is equipped with Hyundai Smart Sense, Hyundai’s autonomous safety technology, which includes a lane keeping assist system, automatic emergency braking, and smart cruise control – enabling drivers to keep a safe distance with the car ahead.

Hyundai has set a price range of between 32.3 million won and 34.1 million won (US$28,510-$30,099) for the Ioniq PHEV.
