SEOUL, Apr. 1 (Korea Bizwire) — Hyundai Construction & Equipment Co., the country’s No. 2 construction equipment maker, said Monday that it will sell its first unmanned forklift this month that can help customers cut costs and boost work efficiency.
The autonomous forklift, with remote control functions, comes with several features, such as route selection and obstacle avoidance.
The unmanned forklift can detect the position of goods on shelves and carry the goods to appointed areas under a preset program.
Hyundai Construction and Equipment said the unmanned forklift will raise the processing speed in factory logistics and unmanned warehouses. It said the machine is well-suited for the latest smart factories.
Industry data showed that the driverless transportation vehicle market is estimated to have reached US$1.86 billion last year and is expected to grow to $2.74 billion in 2023.
Hyundai Construction Equipment is an affiliate of South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries Co.
