SEOUL, Aug. 16 (Korea Bizwire) – In a surprising fusion of construction wear and fashion, Hyundai Construction has unveiled a stylish new work jacket that’s capturing the imagination of its employees across generations.
The company announced on August 15 that it has released an MA-1 Padded Jumper as an exclusive jacket for Hyundai Construction employees, in collaboration with Boldest, a workwear brand under Kolon Industries FnC Division.
The collaboration, inspired by outdoor workers who often layer jackets for warmth in winter, breaks away from the conventional uniform approach.
Instead of the standard-issue, one-size-fits-all design, the new jacket draws inspiration from the U.S. Air Force pilot’s MA-1 jacket, infusing a trendy aesthetic into workwear.
Functionality hasn’t been sacrificed for style.
The jacket features high-performance padding from Germany’s Freudenberg Vliesstoffe for better warmth, and boasts ten pockets for storing tools — a practical consideration for on-site workers.
What sets this jacket apart is its departure from the typical corporate uniform that prominently displays company logos.
Catering to younger employees who value individuality, the jacket includes Velcro patches that allow for the attachment of various items such as corporate identifiers, team logos, or personal decorations.
The company’s CI (Corporate Identity) is subtly incorporated into design elements like the inner collar and zipper.
The jacket’s blend of functionality, style, and personalization has struck a chord with employees. In just ten days, nearly 6,000 jackets were sold, with bulk orders coming in from both domestic and international sites.
A Hyundai Construction representative noted, “The adoption of the popular aviation jacket design to our typically monotonous work uniform, creating a ‘working in style’ concept, seems to have resonated well with our employees.”
They added, “Not only the younger generation but also older employees have embraced this fresh approach, fostering a sense of belonging and creating common ground that transcends age and rank.”
