SEOUL, Oct. 24 (Korea Bizwire) – Hyundai Department Store launched Sunday a ‘Mont Blanc VR Store’, available on its e-commerce platform thehyundai.com.
As the title suggests, the VR store allows users to virtually experience and shop from the Mont Blanc outlet located in Hyundai’s Pangyo franchise. It’s a step forward from conventional online shopping platforms where consumers purchase goods based on pictures and written descriptions, Hyundai said.
Consumers can access the new store either via thehyundai.com or its mobile application, and connect their smartphone to a VR device, which will then allow them to see a complete 3D view of the outlet as well as move around the store to view and purchase products. The products can be previewed via a “Product VR Service” that offers 360 views of the items.
The service is also available to consumers with no VR devices, who can still see around the store by tapping on arrows and product icons.
Hyundai’s VR service first took off in August, and seven virtual stores are currently offered, including Nike and Adidas stores also located at the company’s Pangyo franchise.
According to Hyundai, it plans to introduce a “VR Recommendation” service in 2018 where its VR stores make suggestions of matching products, and a “VR Department Store” in 2019, providing a virtual experience of an entire department store.
