SEOUL, Feb. 8 (Korea Bizwire) — Hyundai Glovis, the logistics unit of Hyundai Motor Group, announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to establish a new business alliance with car-sharing company SoCar with a focus on developing future logistics technologies.
With a fleet of about 18,000 vehicles, SoCar has been applying innovative technology and data, including connected black boxes and in-house vehicle control terminals for vehicle arrangement, management and repair.
Under terms of the MOU, Hyundai Glovis will share data-based vehicle management and control systems with SoCar, while promoting cooperation in the development of artificial intelligence (AI)-based vehicle exterior inspection technologies.
Moreover, the two companies aim to improve data reliability and user convenience through the application of data-based AI technology in use in SoCar vehicles.
The two companies also plan to establish a next-generation eco-friendly energy solution strategy under which they will carry out empirical demonstrations of electric vehicle (EV) technology.
They will verify whether smart logistics technologies and new energy-related technologies can be applied and whether they have commercial value, ensuring safety in SoCar Zones and at SoCar Stations.
