SEOUL, March 14 (Korea Bizwire) – Hyundai Motor Company recently held a test drive event for vehicles featuring its 7-DCT (7-Speed Dual-Clutch Transmission) gearbox, which the company developed in 2014 and has included in recent versions of its Sonata Turbo, Veloster Turbo and i30/i40 (diesel models).
On March 13, customers had the chance to test drive four Hyundai cars with the 7-DCT gearbox and two 7-DCT cars, Polo and Golf, from Volkswagen, which is at the forefront of 7-DCT vehicle development. Hyundai is specifically targeting Volkswagen due to similarities between their vehicles.
Hyundai said at the event that it prepared the special test drive to help consumers compare the two brands, and to let the world know that Hyundai cars can compete with traditionally renowned manufacturers in terms of technology.
Hyundai’s i30, a car that always has been popular among Korean customers, was dethroned by the Golf last year, as Volkswagen sold 7,238 units of its popular hatchback, but Hyundai only found 6,644 buyers for its i30.
Hyundai Motor Company is determined to market its cars more aggressively, to show that they are competent and reasonably priced among 7-DCT vehicles on the market.
