SEOUL, Dec. 12 (Korea Bizwire) – Hyundai Motor’s Ioniq 5 N, its first dedicated electric vehicle under the high-performance “N” brand, has been named “High-Performance Car of the Year” at the 2025 China Car of the Year Awards, the company announced on Monday.
The annual awards are among the most prestigious in China’s automotive industry, judged by a panel of 48 experts, including automotive journalists and influencers.
The Ioniq 5 N secured 211 points, outpacing competitors such as the Mercedes-AMG C63 SE Performance (142 points) and the Lynk & Co 03++ (127 points).
Il Yong Lee, head of Hyundai China’s N division, highlighted the brand’s rapid growth since its debut in the Chinese market last year.
“The Ioniq 5 N showcases Hyundai’s advanced high-performance electrification technology,” he said, adding that the company aims to strengthen its market position and offer unique experiences to Chinese customers.
Equipped with an 84kWh high-capacity battery and a high-performance all-wheel-drive system, the Ioniq 5 N delivers a maximum output of 478kW (650 horsepower) and 78.5kgf·m of torque. These features have earned it widespread acclaim for its dynamic driving capabilities.
This latest accolade adds to a growing list of honors for the Ioniq 5 N, including recognition as “Car of the Year” by Top Gear in 2023, “World’s High-Performance Car of the Year” at the 2024 World Car Awards, and “Electric Vehicle of the Year” by Car and Driver in 2024.
The win underscores Hyundai’s commitment to advancing its high-performance electric vehicle lineup and expanding its footprint in the competitive Chinese market.
