SEOUL, Nov. 11 (Korea Bizwire) — Hyundai Motor Co. and its affiliate Kia Corp. said Thursday they will expand a self-driving ride-hailing pilot service in Seoul’s Gangnam neighborhood as a way to further upgrade their complete self-driving technology.
In collaboration with Kakao Mobility Corp., more vehicles will be added to the pilot RoboRide autonomous service, and new services connected with the Kakao T platform.
RoboRide is a mobility service that provides mobility convenience to passengers using Level 4 autonomous vehicles.
To this end, Hyundai and Kia will additionally secure urban self-driving data as well as verify the platform to provide more stable self-driving services in the future.
The RoboRide service will first be offered to an experience group consisting of company employees. The selected employees will be able to hail and use RoboRide vehicles through the Kakao T app.
Thereafter, Hyundai and Kia will expand the service to general customers and broaden the scope of the service area.
