SEOUL, July 21 (Korea Bizwire) — Hyundai Motor Co. and its smaller affiliate Kia Corp. have won a combined 11 honors — two Best of the Best and nine Winner awards across eight categories — at the 2025 Red Dot Product Design competition, Hyundai Motor Group said Monday.
Hyundai’s City-Pod and Urban-Pod, along with Kia’s PV5 WKNDR Concept, earned Best of the Best awards in the Autonomous and Cars & Motorcycles categories, respectively, the group said in a press release.
City-Pod is an autonomous large-scale logistics mobility solution designed to overcome the limitations of existing systems with advanced software technology. Powered by hydrogen, it can be used in logistics, public transportation, the transport of industrial raw materials and waste and hydrogen energy distribution.
Urban-Pod, or U-POD, is a multipurpose electric vehicle built on an unmanned platform. It is designed for various environments, including digital twin systems and last-mile mobility.
“These innovative transport solutions could facilitate the development of futuristic, sustainable and technologically advanced smart cities,” Hyundai said in the release.
Kia’s PV5 WKNDR Concept is a multipurpose van aimed at customers who enjoy outdoor activities.
The nine models that won Winner awards include the Genesis X Gran Coupe, X Gran Convertible and X Gran Equator under Hyundai’s Genesis brand; Kia Concept PV1, PV5 and PV7; Kia EV2 Concept; and Hyundai’s commercial vehicles E3W and E4W.
The Red Dot Award is one of the world’s top three design prizes, alongside the iF Design Award and the International Design Excellence Award (IDEA).
