SEOUL, April 6 (Korea Bizwire) — Hyundai Mobis Co., the auto parts making unit of Hyundai Motor Group. said Tuesday it will donate air-purifying plants grown by management staff to elementary schools as part of its ‘classroom forest’ project.
The company plans to send 2,500 plants to 10 schools this year. In celebration of Arbor Day, the company first sent 1,250 plants to two elementary schools in Seoul and Yongin where the company headquarters and its research institute are located.
Employees at at Hyundai Mobis have spent a month growing the plants at home or at work.
Each of them grew a maximum of two plants that are either table palms, goldcrest wilmas or spindle trees.
The flowerpots were also made with the leftovers of materials used to make disposable face masks and plastic bottles, the company said.
