SEOUL, Dec. 8 (Korea Bizwire) — Hyundai Mobis, South Korea’s largest auto parts maker, said Monday it has established a second research and development center in India as global carmakers turn to the country for more sophisticated automotive software and core components.

The new facility, located in Bengaluru, will focus on specialized software development and will operate alongside the company’s existing integrated R&D hub in Hyderabad, which opened earlier this year. Together, the two sites form a dual-track strategy designed to meet rising local and international demand, Hyundai Mobis said in a statement.

India’s automotive market, long dominated by compact cars, is increasingly shifting toward mid- and large-sized models equipped with high-end electronic systems. As adoption of advanced driver-assistance systems and other digital features grows, demand for more complex and value-added components has accelerated.

“The Hyderabad center will continue to guide local software strategy and application development,” the company said. “The Bengaluru branch will take on work tied more closely to hardware, including frameworks that underpin software functionality.”

Hyundai Mobis already produces modules and key components at two plants in Chennai and Anantapur, and its parts facility in Gurugram supplies after-sales components across the market.

The company aims to increase the value of its orders from global customers in India sixfold by 2028 compared with 2025, though it did not disclose specific revenue figures. Hyundai Mobis is seeking $7.44 billion in global orders this year, a sharp increase from $2.56 billion in 2024, driven by strong demand for high value-added components for electric vehicles.
