SEOUL, May 2 (Korea Bizwire) — Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung visited Auto Shanghai 2025 earlier this week despite the automaker’s absence from the event, industry sources said Friday.
Chung attended the biennial motor show on the eve of its official closing Friday, marking his first attendance at China’s event since the 2018 Beijing Auto Show, according to the sources.
Hyundai Motor Co. and its affiliate Kia Corp. did not participate in this year’s event, the first time the South Korean carmakers have skipped a major Chinese motor show since entering the Chinese market in 2002.
Auto Shanghai 2025 officially kicked off on April 23 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. The event brought together more than 1,000 companies from 26 countries and regions, showcasing the latest in automotive innovation.
