SEOUL, March 23 (Korea Bizwire)Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea’s leading carmaker, said Wednesday it will host an exhibition at AP AGAIN in eastern Seoul to introduce the Re:Style project featuring fashion items made of waste vehicle materials.

This project was designed to promote eco-friendly upcycling by establishing a link between automobiles and fashion, in an environment where sustainability is emerging as a central issue.

The 2023 collection, the work of fashion designer Jeremy Scott, consists of “haute couture” dress collections featuring the creation of high-end women’s clothing by combining various materials used for automobiles with out-of-the-box witty designs.

Included in the list of the materials used for this year’s collection are the Ioniq 6’s eco-friendly “bio plastic skin” (eco-friendly fabric containing bio material extracted from sugarcane), and the safety belts, rear lamps and windshield wipers used for electric vehicles.

A new trend in upcycling will be presented by adding the components of scrapped vehicles such as keys and wheel caps.

In the archive space, Hyundai will show a video showing a famous model Lauren Wasser wearing items from the collection. Wasser is also a PR ambassador for Re:Style.
