Hyundai Motor Expands Forest Creation Initiative

SEOUL, Sept. 22 (Korea Bizwire)Hyundai Motor Co. is stepping up efforts to create more forests to protect biodiversity as well as to better respond to the climate crisis.

The South Korea’s biggest carmaker said Wednesday it will create a new forest with a size of about 16,000 square meters in Hongcheon County, Gangwon Province in the fourth quarter of this year.

The new forest will consist of 3,000 Korean fir trees and 2,500 false acacia and ash trees, which are species facing extinction.

In addition, Hyundai will also expand the 20,000 square meter Ioniq forest that it created in the National New City Recreation Forest in Gunsan last year.

The company plans to create a self-sustaining garden consisting of 500 trees and 850 plants at Mongdol Beach near the New City Recreation Forest.
