SEOUL, Aug. 25 (Korea Bizwire) — Hyundai Motor Group said Wednesday it was investing in local startup BOS Semiconductors as part of efforts to create synergy in the future automotive semiconductor area.
BOS Semiconductors, founded this year, is a fabless company specializing in the design and development of System-on-a-Chip (SoC) optimized for automotive software and requirements.
Hyundai plans to take the investment as an opportunity to review from various angles automobile semiconductor-related technology optimized for future vehicles as well as to promote cooperation with a variety of chipmakers to develop highly competitive auto chip technology.
The investment was carried out through the second fund of the ZER01NE Accelerator, an open innovation platform that the group established for startup investment.
The fund was financed by the group’s affiliated companies, including Hyundai Motor Co., Kia Corp. and Hyundai Motor Securities Co. and its partner companies. The Korea Development Bank and Shinhan Bank also participated as investors.
The fund is investing in future-oriented new business startups specializing in future mobility, eco-friendly vehicles, artificial intelligence and connected cars, contributing to expanding the related ecosystem.
