Hyundai Motor Group Ranks 1st Overall in U.S. J.D. Power Quality Study

SEOUL, Jun. 28 (Korea Bizwire)Hyundai Motor Group said Friday it has ranked first place overall in the J.D. Power 2024 U.S. Initial Quality Study for vehicles sold in America.

This year’s survey was conducted on 99,144 customers who purchased new vehicles between April 2023 and February with a questionnaire consisting of 227 items. It compiles customers’ quality complaints, with a lower score indicating higher quality satisfaction.

Among 15 global automaker groups, Hyundai Motor Group, which houses Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Corp., ranked first placed, with 164 points, followed by Nissan and General Motor, with 168 and 172 points.

Per individual brand, Hyundai Motor and Kia ranked third and fourth, with 162 and 163 points, respectively, after Ram and Chevrolet. In the premium brand category, Hyundai’s independent brand Genesis ranked third with a score of 184 points.

Among segment-specific evaluations, Kia’s K3, known as Forte in the U.S., ranked first in the compact sedan category for six consecutive years since 2019 and Kia’s Carnival ranked first in the minivan category for two consecutive years.

Hyundai’s Santa Cruz also ranked first in the mid-size pickup truck category, receiving the Best Quality Award.

A Hyundai Motor Group official said, “Based on the positive response from U.S. consumers, we will continue to strive to provide high-quality vehicles through ongoing quality improvements and innovations.”
