SEOUL, Dec. 3 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Group said Wednesday it has unveiled its first mass-produced mobility robot platform, designed for various industrial and everyday applications, at a major robotics exhibition in Japan.
The group, whose major affiliates include Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Corp., showcased the Mobile Eccentric Droid (MobED) at the International Robot Exhibition 2025 (iREX 2025) in Tokyo, Hyundai said in a press release.
First introduced as a concept robot at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in 2022, MobED has since been refined into a production-ready, fully autonomous mobility robot platform powered by artificial intelligence (AI), the company said.
“Beyond a simple mobility platform, MobED offers a next-generation solution adaptable to diverse industries and everyday life. It will set new standards in the global robotics market and accelerate a future where humans and robots coexist,” said Hyun Dong-jin, vice president and head of Hyundai Motor Group Robotics LAB.
The group introduced two versions: MobED Basic, designed as a foundation for research and development, and MobED Pro, equipped with advanced autonomous capabilities.
With these two models, MobED offers flexibility for evolving industrial needs while broadening the applications of robotics technology, the group said.
Hyundai Motor Group plans to begin mass production of MobED in the first half of 2026 for customer delivery.
