SEOUL, Nov. 14 (Korea Bizwire) – Hyundai Motor announced on Monday that its Elantra N TCR (domestically known as the Avante N TCR) clinched the top spot in the second-last race of the 2023 TCR World Tour, held at the Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit in Bathurst, Australia, from November 10 to 12.
Norbert Michelisz, a member of the BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse team racing in the Elantra N TCR, secured victory in the race held on November 12. He accumulated a total of 56 points during the race, bringing his overall points total to 383, placing him third in the driver category, just one point behind the joint leaders.
Mikel Azcona, racing with the same model, maintained his position at No. 4 in the final rankings. Both drivers, affiliated with the BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse, achieved remarkable results by effectively leveraging the performance of the Elantra N TCR model, despite numerical disadvantages compared to other teams, including Cyan Racing using LYNK & CO engines and Comtoyou using Audi vehicles.
The TCR World Tour, kicking off this year, represents the pinnacle of TCR championship racing, succeeding the WTCR that was terminated last year. The tour spans various regions worldwide on a touring basis.
From approximately 200 TCR races held globally, nine are selected, granting the top 15 drivers in terms of points the opportunity to participate in the TCR World Final scheduled for late this year or early next year.
