SEOUL, Oct. 25 (Korea Bizwire)Hyundai Motor Group is considering raising the speed limit imposed on its first Level 3 autonomous driving vehicle, which is expected to be released soon.

The carmaker will release the new G90 sedan under the independent Genesis brand later this year, which is expected to be equipped with its Level 3 Highway Driving Pilot (HDP) system, according to industry sources.

Autonomous driving cars available now in the market are equipped with Level 2 self-driving systems, which require the driver to keep their hands on the steering wheel.

Failing to do so for a lengthy period of time results in a warning alarm.

A Level 3 autonomous driving system is capable of driving the car by itself, even when the driver removes their hands from the steering wheel.

Hyundai had announced plans to release the Level 3 self-driving G90 earlier this year, with a speed limit of 60 kilometers per hour. Now, the company is considering raising the speed limit to 80 kilometers per hour.

Raising the speed limit will enable consumers to use the self-driving system more frequently.
