SEOUL, Dec. 26 (Korea Bizwire) — Hyundai Motor Group said Sunday that all of its electric vehicle (EV) models built on its own dedicated EV platform named E-GMP recorded the highest grade in the world’s major collision tests.
As a result of the collision tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), Hyundai Motor Co.’s IONIQ 5, Kia Corp.’s EV6, and the GV60 under the independent Genesis brand all obtained the highest grade of TOP SAFETY PICK+.
The Genesis G80 electrified model also acquired a Top Safety Pick+ rating in the evaluation results released last week, satisfying all of the safety assessment standards.
To get a Top Safety Pick+ grade, vehicles need to obtain the highest rating, “good,” in all of the six collision safety categories, including driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side collision, roof strength, and head restraints and seats.
In addition, vehicles also have to score higher than the ‘advanced’ grade in the test of front collision prevention systems and higher than “acceptable” in the headlight test.
The automotive group noted that it had obtained Top Safety Pick+ ratings for a total of 15 models, including internal combustion engine models.
