Hyundai’s Genesis Preferred Domestic Car for Korean University Students

SEOUL, July 6 (Korea Bizwire)Hyundai Motor’s luxury sedan Genesis has been picked as the preferred Korean car by Korean university students, while Hyundai’s Avante was chosen as the best option for a first car.

According to a survey conducted by Hyundai Mobis, a parts maker subsidiary of the Hyundai Motor Group, which polled 1,240 university students on their automobile recognition, the Genesis was picked as the preferred car with 13.8 percent popularity, followed by the Genesis Coupe at 9.6 percent.

Among imported cars, Audi’s A7 was the favorite with 7.5 percent, followed by Land Rover’s Range Rover Evoque (4.6%) and Volkswagen’s Beetle (4.2%).

As their first car, students picked compact cars with high fuel efficiency. Among domestic models, Hyundai’s Avante (Elantra in North America) was the most popular with 10.5 percent, and Kia Motors’ compact car Ray and K5 followed with 6.1 percent and 5.9 percent respectively. Among imported cars, students picked Volkswagen’s Golf (5.3%) and Beetle (5.3%), and BMW’s Mini Cooper (4.6%) as their first cars.

Among the respondents, 70.8 percent said that they were willing to purchase eco-friendly models. In the eco-friendly segment, they preferred hybrid models at 71.3 percent to electric vehicles (21.7%) and fuel cell cars (6.9%).
